Concert - MOIN, Rashad Becker, Klaus Fiehe

Moin are a London-based three-piece featuring Tom Halstead and Joe Andrews of the electronic outfit Raime, alongside visionary percussionist Valentina Magaletti. Their music recontextualizes a range of guitar-based genres—grunge, shoegaze, and post-rock—through an enigmatic reimagining of the traditional band dynamic. Employing both conventional and unique compositional techniques, their sound is marked by a visceral immediacy that comes to life in full force during their live performances. Moin walk the line between the reassuringly familiar and the unsettlingly inquisitive. Rashad Becker is a composer and musician residing in Berlin. His compositions are multilayered narratives, populated by an ensemble of sonic entities, some smug, some shy, some agitators, others ready to surrender. Often there is a tragic-comical touch to his work, like a cartoon version of what could be a requiem from a dream. He is mainly active as a solo artist but finds himself in a series of permanent collaborations alongside Eli Keszler, Moritz von Oswald and as a member of the formation Moleglove. His two Traditional Music Of Notional Species on Pan were widely acclaimed as resetting the setting for contemporary avant-garde music. He has been commissioned by New York-based ensemble Alarm Will Sound, Berlin string ensemble Kaleidoskop and leading German theater company Berliner Ensemble. Support DJ set from Klaus Fiehe the radio legend many call “the German John Peel”. His program, 1Live Fiehe, broadcast by Cologne public radio station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), showcases a presenter who has always marched to the beat of his own drum. Fiehe’s career began in the early 1980s as a saxophonist for the alternative rock icons Geier Sturzflug, and his three-hour weekly show, drawing from a personal collection of over 60,000 records, reveals his peerless curation, insatiable spirit and storytelling flair within German pop culture. The Peel parallel holds up. And while preferring to be known as “that guy who spins the right stuff”
